ooooooooo / pearls for helmi
2026

Public artwork for Helmi daycare and the City of Loviisa.

Reclaimed wood was carved into repeating round shapes, in conversation with the people who live and work nearby. The resulting ooooooo-shaped sculptures touch on ideas of repetition and quantity: doing the same thing again and again, cycles of days and years, chains of events, or generations of trees or people. The permanent installation in the daycare is partially touchable.

daylight, traces, talks
2023

The public Artwork for the city of Helsinki/Honkasuo daycare and HAM Helsinki Art Museum.

The sculptures were made from curved pieces of reclaimed timber and carved into repeating round shapes.
The resulting ooooooo-shapes relate to ideas of repetition and quantity: annual growth rings of a tree, cycles of days and years, chains of events, or generations of trees, humans, and others.
The sculptures are touchable and will age and change over time.

daylight, traces, talks / OOOOOOOOO
2020 - ongoing

the ongoing work consists of wooden sculptures, installations, public artwork, and workshops that combine carving and conversation. from 2020 to 2024 the work was titled 'daylight, traces, talks', and from 2024 on 'ooooooooo'

the sculptures are made using reclaimed wood from trees that have been cut by public and private institutions. the wood is carved into recurring round shapes with hand tools, in conversation with the people who live and work nearby. the resulting ooooooo-shaped sculptures touch on ideas of repetition and quantity: doing the same thing again and again, annual growth rings of a tree, cycles of days and years, chains of events, or generations of trees or people.
